Contract : Full Time, Permanent 

Hours : 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm

Holidays : 24 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays

This is Senior Management Team position

Overview

Hill Holt Wood is a nationally recognised and award-winning Environmental Social Enterprise. It currently employs 43 full and part time rangers and is engaged in a wide range of activities including the education of young people, extensive forestry operations, contracts with the local council, eco-construction, both design and build (Design:HHW), and events and hire, including the Hive Café. It has enjoyed considerable success over the last 19 years and continues to build on its strong position focusing on sustainability, environmentalism, conservation and social awareness.

We are seeking a Head of Education to ensure the successful delivery of our diverse education and training provision. The main part of the role will be focused on our Study Programme, which offers vocational qualifications and Functional Skills to 16-19 year olds (16-24 with EHCP) and on our School Referral programme for under 16’s.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Management of the education team and overall management of Study Programme, and School Referral programme including but not limited to;

 

  • Recruitment of learners on all learner programmes including arranging open days, transition days and providing show arounds

  • Managing the planning, registration, delivery and successful completion of courses and qualifications

  • Provide behaviour management/pastoral support to learners including creation and review of any learner intervention plans (attendance, behaviour and pastoral)

  • Ensure accuracy of Individual learner record data and complete ESFA uploads accurately and within specified timeframes

  • Assist in daily staff rota planning and coordinating any changes if needed

  • Work with and support other members of staff to ensure successful delivery including;

    • Supporting senior rangers/pathway leads with planning, reviewing of pathways, marking and progress reviews

    • Work with Safeguarding officer(s) to ensure appropriate policies and procedures are in place to support the well-being of learners

  • Lead Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) activities, Internal verification, lesson observation and standardisation activities

  • Lead on all External compliance visits e.g. Ofsted and ESFA

  • Manage and implement the Quality Improvement plan (QIP) and ongoing Self-Assessment Reporting (SAR)

  • Report writing as required

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

 

  • Training/education qualification ie AET/DET/QTS etc

  • Management experience and/or qualifications

  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) experience and/or qualifications

  • Good understanding of ESFA and Ofsted Compliance 

  • Knowledge and experience of the SEND code of practice and working with SEND/SEMH Learners

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Experience of working with Post 16 Learners (16 – 24 years old)

 

Full driving licence essential.
