Hill Holt Wood is a nationally recognised and award-winning Environmental Social Enterprise, it currently employs full and part time rangers and is engaged in a wide range of activities including the education of young people, extensive forestry operations, contracts with the local council, eco-construction, both design and build and events. It focuses on changing people’s lives within a sustainable, environmental setting. Learning Support Ranger
Salary : National Living Wage (pro rata)
Contract : Part Time - Fixed Term Contract - Until 23rd July 2027
Hours : Term time only - 30 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 9.30am - 3.30pm
Job Role
The job will involve assisting and supporting learners aged 11-24 with additional learning needs as outlined in their Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
The LSR will ensure that the learner/s can integrate as fully as possible in the activities generally undertaken by the other young people in the class and make progress.
The applicant will assist and support the ranger in charge of the group with activities; these will include basic Math’s, English, ICT and either Art & Design, Horticulture, Animal Care or Heritage Woodcraft. This role may also require supporting the alternative provision as required.
Full driving licence essential.

Land Management Ranger
Salary : £26,437 per annum
Contract : Full Time, Permanent
Hours : 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday – 08:30 – 16:30
To become part of our Countryside Services team, we are looking for someone with the skills and
experience to help us look after our local environment, increase biodiversity and improve green
spaces. Hill Holt Wood manages 100s of acres of land, predominantly woodland but also small
nature reserves, wet grassland sites, gardens and footpath networks.
The successful applicant will be responsible for helping to maintain these sites to a very high
standard, help us deliver events (including school visits) in our woodland and fulfil our gardening and
grounds maintenance contracts.
A strong passion for improving nature is essential.
Experience of gardening is highly desirable as are qualifications in chainsaw, strimmer and using
hand tools. Experience of working with volunteers is desirable.
The successful applicant will have excellent organisational skills and must be able to work as part of
our team but also be able to set their own targets and work on their own initiative.
