Construction project

Construction Volunteer

Where: Norton Big Wood,  Norton Disney, LN6 9QG

 

Summary of what the project is about: 

Combining the peaceful and relaxing woodland environment with completion of environmental construction and landscape practical tasks. The main project for the programme is the construction of a woodland megaphone to amplify the relaxing sounds of the woodland. Participants will be involved in all stages of construction learning sustainable construction skills, meeting new people, enjoying the natural environment, whilst also promoting good mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Other information:

  • Every other Monday (except bank holidays) 11am – 3pm.

  • Transport pick up available from the Lincoln Area – Capacity Limited 

  • Booking essential 

  • Max capacity per session: 10

  • Notes: Practical skills, teamwork skills, communication skills and use of hand tools

Woodland Ferns

Where: Lollycocks Field Local Nature Reserve, Eastgate Road, Sleaford.  Parking Cogglesford Mill Car Park NG34 7EQ (Charges Apply), Eastgate Car Park NG34 7D

Since 2007 a dedicated local volunteer group led by a Hill Holt Wood Ranger has met on a monthly basis carrying out a range of activities helping to create and maintain an attractive reserve that supports at least 93 flora species, dragonfly species including emperor, common and migrant hawker, 16 species of butterfly and a minimum of 20 species of bird and wildfowl. 

Who are we looking for?

- Have experience or are comfortable working outdoors

- Are enthusiastic and keen to get stuck-in with tasks

- Are friendly, polite and amenable to others

- Are reliable and trustworthy

- Will follow their Ranger's instructions and HHW's policies and procedures
