Functional Skills Tutor

Contract : Full Time - Permanent

Hours : 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday - 8.30am - 4.30pm

Overview

Hill Holt Wood is a nationally recognised and award-winning Environmental Social Enterprise. It currently employs 43 full and part time rangers and is engaged in a wide range of activities including the education of young people, extensive forestry operations, contracts with the local council, eco-construction, both design and build (Design: HHW), and events and hire, including the Hive Café. It has enjoyed considerable success over the last 18 years and continues to build on its strong position focusing on sustainability, environmentalism, conservation and social awareness.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning, Co-ordination and delivery of Functional Literacy, Functional Numeracy and ICT from Entry Level 1 to Level 2 to small groups of learners. Learners who attend Hill Holt Wood have a variety of complex needs ranging from behavioural to medical and learning.

  • Supporting all learners to achieve their potential best functional skills qualifications they can.

  • Liaising with the Head of Training to ensure high quality of provision for all learners.

  • Preparation and delivery of high-quality resources and teaching materials for all learning sessions.

  • Providing regular marking and feedback to learners.

  • Maintaining learner records, tracking learner progress and analysis of learner data.

  • Attend regular team meetings and standardisation workshops.

  • Ensuring the compliant co-ordination and delivery of Functional Skills Examinations (paper and online).

  • Support the Head of Training with compliance activity to regulatory and awarding bodies such as Ofsted.

  • General Behaviour and pastoral support to learners.

  • Support of lunch break activities.

Essential Skills

  • Teaching Qualification Level 3 (Minimum).

  • Relevant Functional Skills or Maths, English, ICT Experience.

  • Excellent classroom management skills.

  • Knowledge of qualifications and awarding bodies standards.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse range of learners.

  • Be able to manage a continual workload to achieve timely targets.

  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Desirable Skills

  • 1 years teaching experience.

  • Experience of delivering training or supporting young people 16-24.

Full driving licence essential.
