Another busy week for Growing Up Green, this time we’re at Poacher 2017, a huge gathering of Scouts and Guides from across Lincolnshire and Europe. We’ve met friendly Finns, awesome Abu Dhabians and super Scots. There was so many amazing things to do at Poacher; Tomahawk throwing, Mini-Tank driving, CPR training, Quad biking, Air-rifle shooting and so much more, but we’ve been busy none stop with people popping by to see why there was a smattering of straw on the ground and a pile of bales with people clambering on them.
The workshop we were running was a basic introduction to building walls from the bales, a waste product which is a superior substitute for traditional bricks and mortar. We’ve taken a few pictures along the way made a few new friends too. As part of Growing Up Green we can offer Scout and Guide groups free activities at Hill Holt Wood (including activities for the Forestry activity badge) and usually have at least one group every month.
