Branching Out Project
Hill Holt Wood have been running a scheme called Branching Out for the last four years. This involves providing a quality home-cooked meal and dessert at an affordable price to the older generations from the surrounding villages. The meals are served at the Wood Hall at Hill Holt Wood and those requiring a lift are brought in by minibus. The idea brings two generations together, the old and the young, so they can learn from each other and hopefully dispel any perceived stereotyping. The learners undertaking the hospitality qualification at Hill Holt Wood help cook and serve the meal and then sit down with everyone to enjoy the food and chat about their life experiences. After the meal there is tea and coffee available and they all take part in a quiz which really encourages everybody to get talking and helps to promote inclusion, this all being overseen by our experienced ranger team.
It is an immensely popular event, looked forward to each month by both groups.
