Two days, six schools and almost a hundred people enjoying the woodland and learning new skills. We were touring the woodland, learning all about Hill Holt Wood’s habitats and eco-buildings, using hand tools whilst coppicing the woodland, bramble clearing to make way for wild flowers, learning bushcraft skills and constructing straw bale buildings.
We might have gotten a little wet and muddy but we definitely had fun.
After a busy morning we were all glad for our hearty lunch and at the end of the day everyone took home a little gift bag with an acorn (and instructions how to plant it), eco-friendly things to do around the home, recycled pencils and much more. The day was part of our Growing Up Green project which is aiming to get thousands of youngsters back into nature, leaning new skills and increasing awareness of future sustainability issues.
